amidst the broken questions of why
why is there such hatred and anger
what caused this violence
and what went awry
and when the heart is heavy
and when the shock wears off
we can’t help but look for answers
and hope that this senseless killing will stop
and now more than ever
it’s so important to not be brought down
by the ones who have such hatred
for we must take the higher ground
but I thought i saw the sadness
in the angels who stood by
but its up to us to overcome the darkness
so we ask God for a little more love and light
there are so many who are praying
there are thousands of candles lit
there is a light on the horizon
and on this our eyes are fixed
